Reading what 'klaw' wrote about racism in The Office US brought to mind this short clip from the first episode of The Office UK. Ricky Gervais' character David Brent mistakes one Pakistani man for another and tries to cover it up by. Through the character of David Brent, Ricky Gervais is making a point about how racially ignorant and insensitive some people are. The viewer is clearly on the side of the Pakistani man and not David Brent, who is constantly making a fool of himself.
Ricky Gervais uses humour to shed light on more serious issues.
